Hello

April 2024

Welcome to Gail Watson Wedding cakes.  I wasn’t sure where to start the blog on my shiny new website, so it seemed a good idea to start with  . . . well . . . me.

I'm Gail, cake designer and baker based in the beautiful Scottish Borders, and the face behind Gail Watson Wedding Cakes.

I’m passionate about creating unique, bespoke wedding cakes, and bringing them to life with my handcrafted florals.  I love meeting couples, hearing their story and their wedding dreams, and working with them to transform all of that into their very own once-in-a-lifetime cake.

I’ve baked for as long as I can remember, and what started as a wee girl helping mum bake scones and biscuits eventually became the ever-more-elaborate requests for my own children's birthday cakes, and requests from friends for their special celebration cakes.  Somewhere along the way I discovered sugar flowers, and I was hooked!

I knew I wanted this to be more than a hobby, so in 2020 I launched my first cake business.

Many hours of learning, experimenting and perfecting my skills led me to my real passion - wedding cakes.

Gail Watson Wedding Cakes brings all of my cake loves together.  Delicious cakes, flawlessly finished, and made truly personal with eye-catching, handcrafted arrangements of flowers and foliage.

When I’m not behind the mixer, you’ll find me running (more tortoise than hare), wild swimming, and I have been known to dabble in long-distance triathlon.  I love live music, and curling up on the sofa with a coffee. Actually, I love being almost anywhere with a coffee.

I’m excited for the future with Gail Watson Wedding Cakes.  I hope you’ll join me, and do stay tuned for updates and thoughts on all things wedding cake and more.
